5 Diet Tips for Beautiful Skin

Healthy Skin Comes from Within- 5 Diet Tips To Save Face!

Hi Beauties!

What if you made some lifestyle changes PERMANENTLY that would not only improve your complexion but also improve your mood, your energy levels, your productivity and therefore, arguably, your success? Would you consider it? Would you do it with gusto and stay committed to your goal?

Here are 5 simple diet tips- in order of importance in my opinion– that are a surefire way to a beautiful complexion ( and will certainly assist your waistline while you’re at it). You may have heard of them before, but I want to make you think twice before dismissing them in a grouchy-teenager-ignoring-their-mom kind of way.

1. Drink Water

Make no mistake, Beauties: 8- 10 glasses a day keeps the wrinkles at bay. Our skin is 64% water, and while some argue there is no critical research to back up improved skin through h20 consumption, most beauty experts agree that staying hydrated helps you glow from within. Not only that, but drinking water ensures you are ridding your body of toxins and free radicals and keeps your organs functioning well. Find a way to make this part of your day: Buy yourself an inspiring water bottle or glass and keep it by your side at all times.

2. Avoid Sugar

When you eat sugar, your body’s insulin levels spike causing inflammation. Inflammation produces enzymes that break down collagen and elastin which is exactly what we don’t want since that causes wrinkles and visible signs of ageing. If you have a sweet tooth, try to stick with tree fruits and berries that are also packed with antioxidant properties. Junk the junkfood as much as possible.

3. Skip The Salt, Too

Salt can cause us to retain water, which can make us puffy around the eyes, where the skin is very thin. These salty foods are not doing anything good for our bodies anyway, so minimize the snackfood for better skin, digestion, absorption and bloodpressure.

4. Eat the Rainbow!

The brilliant hues in berries, tomatoes, peppers and all other fruits and veggies are made by naturally occurring phytochemicals. These phytochemicals protect our health by cleaning up inflammation, slowing down ageing, helping our sensory organs to function well and boosting our immune system. So clearly, not only your skin will thank you if you load up on colourful foods. Make these a part of your regular diet by adding berries to shakes, adding a salad to a meal or building snack time around fruit and veggies.

5. Protein, protein, protein.

You need it: Not in bodybuilder quantities- unless of course you are a bodybuilder– but you need it nonetheless.

Protein is responsible for your body manufacturing enzymes, hormones and other vital chemicals. Protein plays a key role in bone, muscle, cartilage, skin and blood health. Your hair and nails are mostly protein as well, and who doesn’t want some fine hair and nails?

How much protein should you eat? Roughly 70-140 grams per day. It’s not as much as you think and your skin and body will be well cared for.

As you can see from my list, your entire body is going to benefit from these simple and essential diet modifications. It may seem obvious or lamen, but I have learned that over the years it’s easy to forget or ignore the basics. Life is busy and complex! Adulting is hard! Sometimes a situation takes over and our basic nutrition seems like a non-priority.

Let it ALWAYS be a priority, be a role model to those you love and enjoy beautiful radiance and a balanced body and mind!

Love,

Tee ❤
